Host Family

I have finally gotten some of the paper work back from Thailand.

I already knew about some of my host family from my brother, but this paper work gave me contact information for my host parents. As soon as I could I sent an e-mail to my Host Father, and I just got his reply today:

      Hello,Spencer
I am Nu's (my host brother) father, we are glad to know that. I am not good in English, i hope your family will understand us. Plese tell your parents. We hope to see you soon. We wish you will happy when you are here. If you want to know anything, you can ask me or Nu all the time. Tell your family we will take care you, do not worry. Welcome to our family.

This is just one of the first examples of how great Rotary is. I don't even know this man personally, and he is already accepting me and becoming ready to incorporate me into his house hold. I really can't wait to get to Thailand and begin to learn who these people are and how their culture works.

I have now been contacted by a member of my host family... (Hallelujah). My contact is my would-be host brother, but instead of being my host brother he is going to also be participating in the foreign exchange program. His name is Phanuwat Kongwattananon, and he will be staying in the United States. He has given me a flood of information already, but I still hope to get more. I will be staying in the Udonthani Province (As shown below).
My Thai brother has even given me a website for the school I will be going to: http://www.pichairak.ac.th/index2.php He has been a wonderful source of information, and I can't wait to hear more from him. The closest picture I can get for the school is its logo:
This stream of information is definitely my wake up call. Thailand is coming... But I just can't wait for that first step onto Thai soil. It will be like I was reborn, and now I live in a brand new country... can't wait!
More to come.

Explanation

I am participating in the Rotary Youth Exchange program, which allows its participants to study abroad in another country for eleven months. I will be staying with a Thai family, and I will participate in the daily life of a normal Thai student. Read and you will see my life in Thailand unfold.
